On April 6, 2026, interviews were conducted with local members of the College Point community from Mi Gente Social Day Care about their immigrant experience. In these videos you will hear each of their stories, how they came to the U.S., and what their lives are like here today.
For this video, 6 people were interviewed, Aida Vargas, Teresa Varela, Ayda Hervas, Josefina Vargas, Olga Betancourt, and Jose Flores. They each shared what their life was like in their home country, why they decided to leave, and what their life has been like in the United States. These 6 stories are just a glimpse into the struggles immigrants face when they make the hard decision to leave their home countries and start a new life. Despite these hardships, they have found a community in Queens and have built relationships with others.
